WHO? The Dandelion Seeds are a grass-roots community that supports the artistic work and growth of Dandelion Dancetheater.

WHAT? Members make a monthly financial contribution of any size; while we recommend a $10 minimum monthly contribution, we are committed to making the Seeds accessible to people of diverse income levels, so we welcome any amount – from $1 or $1,000 a month – and have other options for participating if financial contributions aren’t possible. (Note: We are a government-recognized non-profit organization, so any donations are tax-deductible!)

Once you subscribe to the Dandelion Seeds community, you will have the option to be included in Dandelion’s creative process in the following ways: you can receive regular postings of updates from ongoing rehearsals, invitations to special events (sometimes including complimentary tickets), creative prompts for contributing to Dandelion projects (or for working on projects of your own), videos and photos that document the inner workings of our creative processes, and more. You can decide how much you’d like to participate in Dandelion Seeds activities, and if you wish, you can easily opt out of receiving all postings.

WHERE? Dandelion Dancetheater is located in Oakland, CA. Most of our artists live in the East Bay Area, and some live just beyond the region and throughout the world. Dandelion Seeds can participate from anywhere on Earth (and beyond if can help us with the technology to make it possible!).

WHEN? You can join Dandelion Seeds at any time! We will be having a launch party in February 2019 to celebrate all who have signed on to become a Dandelion Seed.

WHY? Dandelion Dancetheater is almost 25 years old as an organization. Our strongest through-line that connects all the many phases of our evolution is one of long-term community building and collaboration. We want our support system to reflect this focus. We need financial support to share our unique approach to Inclusive Performance. This support goes towards artist fees, rehearsal space, costumes, publicity, venue rental, touring, administration, and other general costs. Grant writing and traditional fundraising, which we also pursue, can be time consuming, stressful, and quite artistically restrictive. We envision the Dandelion Seeds as a source of financial support, but also so much more. The Seeds will allow us to create uncensored, radically inclusive, boundary-blurring, accessible, community-informed work, and to share it in non-traditional formats to expand our reach and maintain integrity and intimacy.
